Not the greatest...

The KYC process is muddled (you are constantly forced back to a suite of forms, but it doesnt tell you whats actually missing). The inter-account transfer didnt work - your money disappears from the source account; but doesnt show a pending transaction on the destination account. So your left with a stressful wait or creating the inevitable support ticket to ask "where is my money?". Also the spread on the FX is 30 cents for ZAR/USD - which is excessive and they also charge a fee on top of the huge spread. Finally the trading is poor, you can only trade at bid or market; nothing else.

Be very cautious

The app sells your stocks for 15% less than its value. They update all other prices except the selling price, that way you’ll either loose money or have to pay them for a price update. That being on top of the commissions they take.

FX fees are a let down, overall the app is ok.

The 2% above actual exchange rate plus a flat $4 charge leaves the small investor with some ground to cover to be in the green. A 1% or less mark up would be great. I exclusively invest in US stocks and the exorbitant fees are just discouraging.

I can’t login to my account

I forgot my username/ password. And I’m not even able to reset my password using my email address. I can’t even create a new account cause I already have an account. I created a ticket requesting assistance with this problem and I got a confirmatory email that needed me to provide my details, my reply emails cannot go through. When I call the number provided on your website, I can’t get hold of anyone. I don’t know how to get this problem resolved.

Terrible Platform

I found EE okay at first until I noticed the daily downtime and sluggishness of the application.

It gets worse! The rules around the release of funds which puts funds in locked or unsettled states is ridiculous. Of course they are within the JSE rules, but they go out of their way to push the limits and take advantage investors.

Having to pay for notifications together with a UI that can do with a lot of improvements really putse off. So now I wait to get my funds out.

Great Platform, App Needs Work

The investment platform works as intended, albeit a little slow for navigating at times.

The biggest issue is with the App, it’s very cumbersome and seems to be like navigating a webpage as opposed to a UI fluent App. I’m looking forward though to this changing as EasyEquities gains some more momentum. I’m hoping they invest in that user experience first before investing in additional add-ons (e.g. there life policy survey etc.)

Lots of smaller stocks on the USD account are not available to invest in on this app. I also recommend that the profits/losses are included in a graphical format for better analysis.

Otherwise, a great online stock brokerage firm in which I would recommend!

USD demo - EXPENSIVE NIGHTMARE

In comparison with overseas trading app, this easyequities app is an EXPENSIVE NIGHTMARE! Buy/sell prices are determined by the app and aren’t flexible. No one can’t see what live bids and offers are to adjust his/hers in line with live market. Why ZAR and USD demo are intergraded with live versions? For days I couldn’t figure out why I need to fill in all personal details to play with demos. When open the app, I ONLY saw incomplete profile information screens. Very limited amount of equity stock (<500). Very difficult to navigate going trough the list of equities and their categories. For example, category ‘Financials/Banks’ doesn’t even exist, and user has to scroll batches of 20 through entire list, clicking next screen batch. Bought 10 share of Boeing ($2373) and was charged $15,28 for transaction cost, meaning that it costs $1,528 to buy one share. Comparing with international brokers (Interactive Brokers [IB]) costs are 43 657 time higher. IB charges $0.0035 per share. That’s a SHOKER!!! Perhaps this service provider is for buy and hold for years strategy as the user will definitely be ripped of with huge costs doing frequent transaction.

Great but room for growth

Great concept wrapped into an app, it could do with some app specific improments..the UI/UX is now better but needs tweaking e.g amount fields should default to numeric keyboard and alignments of values on screens such as the easyFX (one of their top offerings). All in all, they are going places.

The new version of the app was just released and it’s night and day compared to the previous version. I’m sure there are still a few tweaks that can be made to improve even further the user experience but now it is very functional, clear and user friendly!

The new version work Im not a big fan. With the new version the line charts do not fit in landscape mode. There aren’t any equity categories. If you select your portfolio you are sent back to the top on the screen which makes it difficult to scroll between holdings. Don’t know if these were noticed before release.

I want to love it but the app won’t let me

This app has a lot of promise however it’s constantly down, the ui/ux is terrible - but a back button when looking at individual companies !

I feel every time I use this app I want to destroy my phone as constantly I find the app has crashed and always at the worst time’s - when the stock market opens the first 2 hrs are crucial but I find the app never works during this time - it’s called load balancing, your developers should be doing this.

All in all I really want to love this app but it just won’t let me and seems like the bugs aren’t going to be fixed any time soon.

Terrible User Interface

Love the concept and brand of Easy Equities. But not sure what more to do other than give a 1 star rating. I was never a fan of using a wrapped version of the website in the app. The app is not updated regularly (and is almost exactly the same as the first version released 2 years ago), the app lacks basic functionality like a back button which was promised months ago. There’s no portfolio specific performance graph. I encourage the EE team to take a look at the types of apps being produced internationally like Freetrade, Revolut etc. EE will get squashed by competition in Australia unless it ups its game.

No customer service at all

I have tried to get my bank account verified with the hope of withdrawing some funds. It has been two weeks now, I have sent the required documents but no responses after the initial confirmation of receipt of my bank documents! Emails are not responded to! I lodged a ticket on their platform and no response there either. Terrible service indeed, I don’t even know if I will get my money from them.

This app is pretty much a web view of the desktop site. A bit cumbersome to use. Would be 10x better if you had an actual app. Navigation is terribly slow and is barely optimized for mobile, one doesn’t even have a back button! The platform is highly functional but there are too many issues that can easily be fixed by building a proper app.

Much needed improvement

The app does not allow you to go “back” -instead you have to go back to the home page each time. Freezing happens regularly, error messages pop up - but once you close and reopen the app, it seems to be okay. The trading is delayed. The fees you pay to trade on the app are high.

Best platform in SA, but mobile app needs improvement

Best investment platform in South Africa due to many reasons including cost, access to both SA and US markets (soon AUS), and access to different types of investment assets (ETF, Equities, Crypto etc).

My only reason for a 4 star and not 5 is that the app can be made better for mobile. For example, a way to go back without restarting the entire process. And I would also like to see further features, community development etc. Besides that, if you don’t have this app and you are not investing with EasyEquities, you are losing out ! (And probably paying costs way too high with your current broker...)

I love the EasyEquities app. I am originally a user of the SatrixNow platform. I wish there was an easy way to move my account and my shares across to the EasyEquities platform. Nice App, needs some refinement

I enjoy the app, I think a back function when doing a search will make this an even better app. It’s a bit frustrating starting from the beginning every time you do a search and click on a specific share details. Otherwise, its quite user friendly.

Overall Good, but needs improvements.

Investing has been great on this platform. If you could optimize the app more for mobile use it would be a massively improvement.

There are a few functions that you could fix that will make the app a lot easier and faster to use, like a feature that allows you to go one step back without having to restart the whole process over when browsing, and if you could add a function that serves the same purpose as a wishlist/ watchlist to compare options it would be amazing. Maybe consider consulting with a UX/UI developer that specialises with sort of thing.

If these things are fixed I’ll be happy to change my review to a 5 star rating.

Easy to use and well structured.

Only issue on the app, and on the website is that you cannot “back” a level when one checks out instruments to invest in, in a catagory for instance, once you view a stock you cannot back out by levels, and as a result jump straight to the landing page.

I am unable to withdraw my funds because my account has not been verified yet. However I submitted all my documents to have my account verified a week ago and till this day I haven’t heard anything back from the EasyEquities team. This platform needs a lot of improvement when it comes to withdrawals and the overall performance. I really wish the team could assist me so that I can withdraw my funds.

Can we please have a bookmark feature to put shares that we are interested in to come back to later. Sort of like favorites...

Great app! Very easy to use and navigate through. However the only thing missing is an auto buy and auto sell tool. This will make the app more convenient as the user won’t need to be constantly monitoring their investments and as a result decrease online traffic on the app.

Really poor user experience

Guys you have a great operating model, but you really should rethink your mobile strategy. Just the mechanics feels like you’ve lifted Web functionality into a Mobile experience. I feel like there was no customer journey maps because if there were you would have created a back button instead of having to start the process over again. Seriously guys invest in UX.

They really have made investing accessible and simple, however their user experience is pretty rudimentary, you can’t seamlessly navigate between securities when browsing and so it’s a lot of back and forth, and starting from scratch, therefore very time consuming to browse. The app and site is are also down regularly for ‘maintenance’ of late which is quite annoying if you’re trying to monitor the market through the App.

Easy to use

The App is easy to use and understand. Only thing I would suggest is putting a back button/tap option, like after you’ve clicked top 40, and choose a bank after reviewing you can’t go back to that top 40 you got to start over. Otherwise great app!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Works well, need some tweeks

The app is perfect for a quick overview. Mobile friendly fact sheets and not having to start at square one, when you are still only gathering facts would be an awesome plus. All and all very functional and worth downloading.

Good, but room for improvement

The app is okay to use. I can access and see most of the information I’m interested in, but the overall user interface can improve. For one, when i open the app it always reverts to the ZAR account. I primarily use the USD account and have to scroll to it every time which becomes annoying quickly. I’d also prefer to immediately land on my primary account overview instead of the invest page every time i open the app.

Great way to invest

Great app, works as expected when wanting to view investment portfolio, or make an investment on the go. The investment type search functionality could use some work though as there isn’t any “back” button, forcing you to restart the search completely.

Will recommend this app anytime.

Great platform to get started

All in all very easy for the new investor and great with regard to no minimums and low brokerage. Great platform.

Lack of back function on the app decreases ease of use. You have to restart the search for a product completely if you tap the wrong thing. App appears to have constant maintenance at which time it is unavailable for buying or selling which is frustrating.

Quick and Easy

It was very quick and easy to setup and fund my acvount. The FICA process was quick snd I completed my first investment within a few hours of starting the process. The fees are a lot better than other platforms. Happy Investing!!!

Very well though out app

App is an exact replica of the website although it needs some updates with respect to some of the connections and does feel a tad cluttered but overall it's very well thought of and functions well.

Add toggling back function and share price

Hi. Very functional platform.

However, i unable to ‘toggle back’ from a search page. The back function is important and essential feature of user interface. Secondly, it would be helpful to have ‘share price’ upon clicking a share as upfront information without going through “what’s been happening with stock X”. Surely this info is key.

Needs bug fixing

On my iPhone X I am unable to view my account overview tab from the button menu and have to navigate through the website-like dropdown menu. I will change my review once this is sorted as I am pretty happy with everything else. Maybe consider not website wrapping the app and do a native development as it will really make for a better user experience.

Consider offering an advanced user options for a better trading experience such as leverage CFDs and stop losses and take profits. Emphasis on the stop losses for all users possibly.

Loving the new app!!!

I like that it has the biometric login for the iPhone X make it super easy to check my latest portfolio numbers. The app is easier to navigate than the current site and switching between browsing the market and your portfolio is so simple now! Keep the innovation coming EasyEquities!
