Requesting a trip is simple:
1. Download the app and follow the instructions to create an account.
2. To request a trip, select your pickup and dropoff locations.
3. Once we’ve found a driver, you’ll be shown the driver and vehicle information. Please note: all our driver-partners are vetted before joining our platform. You can also check the driver’s pickup route and estimated time of arrival (ETA).

Cant set up account

ERROR MESSAGE “TOO MANY ATTEMPTS PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER” on iPhone

The Didi-Rider App definitely doesn’t work on my iPhone device. When i try inserting my mobile number it says “Too Many Attempts Please try again later”. I’ve tried numerous times over a few days… I even deleted and reinstalled the app but it gives the same error message. Please revert back to what the problem is and fix it.

My location

I bought a new phone and redownloaded the DIDI app onto it. It was working perfectly on my old phone however upon redownloading the app it said it doesn’t go to my location (home address) and that they would expand there soon. This was very confusing since there was never an issue before and made the app unusable to me.

Worst of the worst

App will say driver has arrived while you standing right there where you pinned your pickup location, the driver is not there. The app will start charging you waiting fee like it’s your fault, I hate this app. You have no way of disputing the fee afterwards, what a crap app.

Uber is still a better app

I’ve been using DiDi since it launched in South Africa and to cut a long story short, make sure you have other taxi apps that you can use. Just in case you find yourself stranded cause there’s never DiDi drivers around or the prices are just ridiculously inflated right before your eyes. I don’t recommend.

Lost item

On the 01/12/2021 I forgot my car keys inside the car, I tried calling but I think the driver rejected my calls. Now the Driver has my Car keys, house keys and remote for the gate. Do not accept rides from a driver named “J” in Gqeberha

My friends were harassed and sexually assaulted by a Driver named J in Gqeberha. He wouldn’t let 1 women get out of his car and when my other friend showed up to fetch her and get her out of the car he followed the two women in the car. He needs to be removed and held accountable for his actions.

Driver robbed me

Today I had the worst experience, I requested then the driver said he was coming in two minutes, I then logged out on the app for a few seconds, when I log in the app after few seconds the driver said trip ended and the payment went through without him having to pick me up, tried calling him but he declined my calls. His number plate is CA700605 it’s a grey car at Parow Centre in Cape Town.

Drivers dont wear masks

I like the service, however, I have two issues. First issue is waiting times. The drivers dont want to take short trips anymore. They always cancel so that makes people wait very long. I cant cancel a car thats 11-15 minutes away because there’s a cancellation fee. Thats nonsense!!
Second issue is masks!! I have on four occasions had to ask drivers to put their masks on. One of the even told me she was vaccinated so she didn't have to wear a mask. I have to convince her! Please educate them on wearing masks. That being vaccinated does not mean you shouldn't wear a mask.
Other than that its a great service. Keep up the good work.

I’ve had very bad experiences with did drivers most… they come with untidy cars with are a bit old… imagine being picked up by an old Nissan almera and paying a lot of money for it.. worse part is even find a driver who’s reckless😩

Worst lift experience ever.

Terrible experience. Waited over half an hour for a driver only 3km away. Ride GPS tracker was faulty and kept on glitching. When he finally ‘arrived’, he was at the completely wrong location and had to ask me to direct him to my destination because he wasn’t familiar with my area.

Presets

The app is great and convenient, but would it be cooler if customers actually had preset options based on frequent riding patterns. Eg. I travel to work from home. Home to work should be a preset (preset 1) that I can tap and the trip is already planned and all that needs be done is pay. Presets would save alot of time especially with those regular trips

Worst drivers in South Africa

The drivers make you wait excessive amounts of time and I never ended up getting a trip. The guy was 6 min away and passed over my location continued to travel further and further from me. I have screenshots of how long this guy messed me around for and the app has no repercussions for his bad service.

Critics

The app is great but not different at all from Bolt. It’s like it’s the twin brother or copy and paste of Bolt app... First 2 weeks it’s good to use- FACTS!
But after that week prices fluctuates exponentially like they are trying to exploit you or trying to recover cost they incurred from their promotion they gave you for first two weeks.
My advice is: Use for two weeks uninstall because after they try to exploit you.
Eg. A ride i search after writing this review on bolt was R78 and on Didi was R120 like WTF!!!
Another thing; they’ll give you discount but their rides will be at the same amount which is equal to that of bolt even after applying the discount.
But choice is yours

Unsafe for women and they don’t care

DO NOT USE THIS APP IF UR A WOMAN TRAVELLING ALONE!!! I had a driver swear at me and be so aggressive that I rather got out and walked, he kept following me to harass me until I walked into a nursery school to escape him.
I reported him in the message centre- no response!
I found a number and called them, the lady said they will “look into it” still no response!
Which means either they don’t care that women are being harassed by their drivers- or they have so many complaints that it takes them days to get through to a complaint- by that time how many other women are placed in danger?

BE WARNED! This is like anything Chinese. Copy of an original with parts missing and of bad quality. Firtsly finding a ride is impossible and when you find one prices quickly double. What you see if so what you get! Try to delete your data or account then you can also only do it after 15 days which I am sure is against the POPI act. I strongly advice against this app. What you pay for is what you get. Support originality and quality! I will never use this app again. Do not know how their rating is so high as I see many similar complaints.

Needs improvement

The waiting time is long, during the trip you can’t see whether it’s going to be on cash or card so you always have to ensure that you set it on the right payment method. If you don’t like surprise bills, stick to Uber because the trip might say it’s gonna cost R20 but if it happens that there are a lot of traffic lights on your way to your destination then you might end up paying R30. The drivers are still Bolt and Uber drivers so you might as well stick to apps that are more established

A great addition to SA e-hailing

Overall the app is great and user friendly. I would recommend that riders be given an option to choose the promotions to apply to their rides. This will enable customers to have the option to choose higher value promotions for long trips which will amount to cost savings.
The drivers so far have been professional and the cars have been of standard.

Card payment

The app does not allow u to pay with card if it is a promo ride or in general u cant use card payment which is very inconvenient for people who don't carry cash and now have to walk to a bank and then walk back just to get money. Please fix this asap

Driver just drove without passenger but didi still

This is why I’m going to stick on Uber yesterday in the morning I requested didi with my little child going to district six clinic the driver said he arrived at the pickup location but he wasn’t at the axact location when we get to see the driver was driving but he left us and didi still charged us because we where using card payments
On the app there is no section that you can tell Didi that you are not in the Ride

Cape Town Experience

DO NOT USE THIS APP. I ordered a car for my sister, when she got in at the back the driver was insisting in her sitting in front! Literally arguing with her. Why? The only reason can be is because these drivers don’t have permits. Do not drive with this company , use Bolt or Uber!

Scam

I booked a ride for my sister using my bank card, which means she didn’t have to pay for the trip. when the trip was completed the driver told her that it was a cash trip so she had to pay him in cash. I told her, NO. the trip has already been paid for using my card. keep in mind I received a receipt when the trip ended showing clearly that the trip was paid for already. the driver argued with her until she just decided she was going to pay him because she didn’t want any issues. I then sent a message to the app whoever letting them know what had happened and NOBODY has reached out to me yet for my refund. I am truly disappointed because I want loving this app when I started using it. after everything that happened I just decided to delete it. it’s a scam. it’s a scam it’s a scam.

I was offered a free ride by them and decided to use it.

Rather order Bolt

Shocking service and experience with DiDi Port Elizabeth. I asked the driver to come into the complex. He decided instead to wait outside on the road, without letting me know. After 3 minutes he cancelled and left and I get charged a cancellation fee. Customer Service says it was because I didn’t meet him where he was waiting (so he gets to decide where I must meet him?!) and tells me they’ll waive the cancellation fee as it was my first time to do this. Do they think they’re doing me a favour?? By now I’m late for my appointment so I then order with Bolt. The driver came into the complex, right to my door and I had a very good experience with them. Definitely going with Bolt from now on!
