The App is always glitching. Doesn’t matter whether it’s on the tv, laptop or mobile phone. Sometimes it replays the same episode multiple times even when I go to the next episode but it will take me back to the previous episode. Doesn’t keep proper records of what I’ve been watching so I can continue where I left off. Seasons of the same show are all over the place, it would be easier if they were under one heading. I already miss Showmax, DSTV stream has been a disappointment so far.

App crashes, freezes, constantly buffering. Even when you record, the playback buffers and is pixalated. Don’t pause or try fast forward, it will crash. Not compatible with new Samsung Smart TV’s.

I’ve been a subscriber to Showmax for a while and now that we need to move over to the new dstv stream app to still have access
I’ve downloaded the app on my Apple iPhone and I seem to not find the app on my jvc tv though I do get the Showmax etc apps I also did go via google
Play store but now that I’ve logged into the tv via the internet it seems that nothing is working to watch movies!
If I check on my phone then everything is working but nothing on my jvc tv though I did sign in????

Missed The World Cup Because of You
You know, I find it funny that with my hard earned money, i paid to watch the World Cup and to my surprise, your app could not come to the party. Knowing very that all Showmax subscribers have moved to DSTV stream and that meant your platform needed to grow with the sudden audience, it is disappointing to see that you could not cater to your customers’ needs by putting the proper measures to prevent this. I am highly disappointed and gobsmacked at the fact that such an establishment can perform below par.

Unnecessary Complicated
This app is unnecessary difficult to navigate. If it’s not crashing, the Live/current shows is 3 hours out of sync. Then, when you are watching, the picture freezes whilst the sound is still on. The Showmax content was moved and buried under the Movies section but it contains much more than just movies. Why??Just list it on the side burger menu and allow drill downs per category.
And then, ever so often it just loses the logins and you have to jump hoops to reset.
Please streamline this and keep it simple.

The migration from Showmax to DStv Stream is unfortunately a disappointing experience so far.
The biggest issue is that DStv Stream now includes advertisements, something I never had to deal with on Showmax. For a paid streaming service, being forced to sit through ads feels like a step backwards.
The content library is also nowhere near what Showmax offered. While some content was transferred over, a large portion of shows and series appear to be missing, leaving the platform feeling incomplete.
The user experience is frustrating. Every time I open a series, it takes me back to the top of the episode list instead of automatically taking me to the last episode I watched. This means constantly scrolling through episodes just to continue watching. Features that have become standard on most streaming platforms seem to be missing.
Performance is another major issue. The app often takes forever to load, buffers unnecessarily, freezes, crashes,and sometimes displays errors despite having a stable internet connection.
Overall, DStv Stream feels like a downgrade from Showmax in terms of content, usability, and performance. A streaming platform in 2026 should make it easy to find content, continue watching where you left off, and stream without constant technical issues. At the moment, DStv Stream falls short on all three and will soon discontinue using it.

Absolutely love the DStv app! It is incredibly easy to navigate, and everything is well organized, making it simple to find exactly what I want to watch. The variety of content is excellent, with plenty of genres to choose from, including movies, series, sports, documentaries, and kids’ entertainment.
The streaming quality is great, and I enjoy being able to watch my favourite shows and channels wherever I am. The app is reliable, user-friendly, and constantly provides something new to discover.

Extremely Poor Video Quality
This app’s video quality is so badly poor that it’s not even worth watching or downloading it to watch movies 🎥🍿.., Showmax use to be of greater quality ~ in fact it was Crystal clear without any issues or interruptions..‼️ But now Showmax’s management has decided to discontinue Showmax in South Africa 🇿🇦 — what a poor/bad decision by far and then to top it all replace Showmax with DSTV Stream… this is so bad that I’m going to unsubscribe my subscription with DSTV Stream as it’s free till the end of 31 May 2026… well I’m not waiting till then as I’m unsubscribing right now..‼️ Don’t even bother downloading this app — it will just frustrate you & you’ll be paying 💰 R99; for what I ask myself ~ the app isn’t worth it not even if it was for free..‼️ If I could I would have given this app - {negative} 10 stars 🌟..‼️ So spear yourself the frustration and getting annoyed with a app that not worth watching — I mean it and I’m very serious 🧐.., take 🎬 it from me that watched Sowmax for a couple of years … that app was really worth paying R50 for and now they expect R99 for the subscription fee ~ forget it … I’m unsubscribing right now..‼️

Waste of time!
Since Showmax has now gone and we are stuck with Dstv streaming - the quality of shows and movies is terrible! Poor variety, old movies, mostly local content. All those great tv shows from HBO that you could watch on Showmax are non existent on Dstv. Customer service is shocking - on two occasions I’ve asked for help and both times they couldn’t help me get it an issue. With Showmax one could watch quality shows and movies- new and updated from the US. Not anymore- with Dstv, it’s old repetitive movies and series. I recommend rather paying the same price and getting Netflix, Disney + or Prime Video- at least there you can watch what you want, when you want.

Streaming interruptions constantly. Where you on data or fibre it’s the same and on different device
DSTV should really invest in people that really know had slow and interrupted their streaming platforms are. DSTV personal obviously don’t use it at home and thus the product looses our interest. Wake up guys and sort this issue out or your decline will grow even more. Whether you on fibre or data it’s the same on different devices. We blamed our media box etc and bought a new smart tv and the issues persist.

Pathetic platform
I am so sick and tired of the platform crashing or having 429 errors, and I have to delete the App and reload, lose what I am watching, and even after reporting this to DSTV’s CEO on their Streaming team, the issue remains unresolved, BUT I HAVE TO KEEP PAYING FOR A SERVICE THAT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY!!!
So what happens, I get a stupid message saying send us the issues you are having on our chat platform. Geo block and so much more
It’s such a pity that the endless geo blocks which when I go to another device on THE SAME network I can get the stream. Endless buffering as soon as the first advert plays. No way to auto refresh every so often so you can actually see what is playing. Seen many many players, and backends, that make this look like total garbage. Such a pity you are the only option for sport in SA.

Very un user friendly
The UI is trash. Very difficult to find shows that you want watch. There is no functionality to view all shows on catch up, only way is to view shows in categories but even that makes it difficult. Also as a paying subscriber, having to watch adds before a show starts is atrocious. In the last year the content has decreased dramatically and the shows I normally watch are no longer shown on DStv but they still are over seas. Multi choice wonders why they are losing subscribers…

The DSTV app
I honestly love the graphics with interrupted unless it’s the network service provider, although I’d love multi choice to give us an opportunity of choosing our own preferred channels especially for us sports lovers to at least have a choice of choosing only sports channels even if it’s all of them and pay a certain premium. Other than that the App is great.

Can DSTV please fix this bug one faces every time they try to open the app. Then it shows nothing or doesn’t load the profiles. Not only do I experience this on my iPad, but also mobile device and TV. After that we can talk about how sometimes things don’t load in the different menu options such as Live TV. Never experience this with other streaming apps, DSTV do better.

So many ads
Paying a premium for a streaming service which isn’t available instantly on demand like the F1TV and is full of ads. At least drop the ads for premium users because R700/R800pm is already hella expensive against other streaming (and ad-less) platforms. Horrible signing up experience. Unhappy with DSTV, now they want to drop Showmax but the monthly subscription price will not drop. They have to rethink their model. App layout is confusing, can’t see more than a day on the TV guide. Can’t schedule a download of a match coming up in the future, only while it’s currently playing live. Full matches are only available hours later - why? It was streamed, just make it available, the highlights take time and must be available later.

Get the basics right!!!
You still cant switch channels without disconnecting from a google chrome. Same with catchup between eps. How difficult can it be to resolve a very basic problem? The cheapest services can do it why not you? Dont tell me to chat to your customer service they are not developers. Also add a feature where you can actually see which devices are streaming at the same time because you say all streams have been reached yet there is one person on streaming on one device unless you count streaming to a chromecast as 2 streams (which i think you do) in which case you are scamming us

I am on dstv compact and I was able to stream on two devices at a time but that stopped when we bought a new tv and now it tells us that streaming limit reached with only one device streaming I even removed all devices on manage device and left two devices and still nothing. Stupid app
This might be the worst app I’ve ever seen, I’ve tried signing up for dstv stream since I have an active dstv subscription but this stupid app doesn’t show all the channels I have subscribe to. It only shows 2 super sport channels, Channel O and TBN Africa!!!!! It’s like if you don’t have the recorder with you then you can give up every watching those channels you’ve already paid for even though the dstv app shows that each recorder subscription comes with 2 devices streaming account. I am so ANGRY!!! Dstv is a waste of money and they dstv stream app is so USELESS!!! Worse invention to date, whoever made it deserves getting FIRED 😡😡😡🤬

Why don’t you guys have Skeem saam on catch up and DStv stream? Like this is not 1920 I must be able to watch anything at anytime, I’m always not home when Skeem saam plays and can’t watch it anywhere else once I’ve missed it! Please get it on catch up! Can't screen cast
The screen cast doesn't pick up tv's on my local network even though local network access is enabled in settings. The stream also goes blank when I try screen mirror from my phone to my TV using the in built/ native iOS screen mirroring - am guessing this behaviour is actually deliberate. (I would just use the DStv app on my TV or Apple TV but those seem to have their own issues with live rugby in that they frequently lag for a second after which the audio remains desynced until I restart the stream. And buffering doesn't seem to help. Also fwiw the web app doesn't help either as that also goes blank when I try screen cast.)
The only reason I have DStv is to stream rugby half a dozen times a year. I can't even do that at the moment so the app gets one star.
EDIT: I am out of town today and tried screen casting to my projector from within the app. Unfortunately this too does not work, I get the error "Copyright content cannot be mirrored". I have more than 5 streaming apps on my phone and DStv is the only one that does this.

Sudden video freezing
Watching shows/live sport on this app is becoming unbearable it freezes every few minutes. You constantly have to exit the app and try to play it again. For a 20 minute show you will have to retry about 5 times. My best guess is, it is being caused by ads failing to play. This is on Apple TV. This is what happens when 1 company has a monopoly on sporting licences. Could have left them a long time ago. For some reason they think we want to talk to their support team for something that should just work 🤣. And yes, l have tried resetting/restarting my network, cleared cache, reinstalling the App. Nothing helps. So no l don’t want to talk/chat to your support team.

I've noticed lately, when you leave a show you're watching or exit the App via Apple TV, resuming the show you were watching is now no longer exists. Instead it starts the episode from scratch.

DStv streaming App
DStv has completely changed how I watch sports. The mobile streaming is flawless. Whether I'm stuck in traffic, at work, or just away from my couch, I can log into the DStv app and stream live games instantly. I never miss a kick-off, a try, or a basket. It’s like having my own personal sports bar in my pocket. For any sports fan on the go, this is an absolute essential.

Horrible app
This app is ridiculously horrible!!! It exits whatever you’re watching when an alarm rings. As if thats not enough regardless which phone or internet connection i have downloading anything is a nightmare! As if that’s not enough it wont delete things easily i had to delete the app and it download again….. some downloads wont even play! If you value your peace of mind stay away from this!!! Only reason im using it is because i csncelled my Netflix subscription since im already paying dstv but trust me this is the last month!!!!!! Trash of an app really disappointed!

Much improved
This app really has improved a lot. Its functionality on live channels is really improved. And the quality of streaming channels is great. There is a bug however with on-demand shows on the Apple TV where at random intervals the show just stops and appears to be loading but isn’t. It is only fixed by exiting and starting the show again. This is not a connection speed issue as Showmax works perfectly and streaming does too.

No option to delete episodes
Please assist, there is no button to delete episodes on the downloads screen. We are limited to 25 downloads however there’s no icon to delete episodes once you’ve watched them. This is the only frustrating thing I’ve picked up on. I’m using the app on iOS

“Better navigation”
By far the most difficult streaming App to navigate. On Each update you’ve written “better navigation” but it’s the complete opposite. I highly doubt you had the customers in my mind when you were developing this App in fact I think you guys are making this app bad on purpose. Unlike other streaming Apps Dstv has channels and one would think it would be so easy to find “channels” on the App but again you’ve updated the App and the channels option isn’t there. You need to start listening to your customers, you are competing with other streaming Apps and this can’t be what you are bringing to the table. I look forward to a better experience with the App that’s actually easy to navigate.

Outdated, Clunky, and Out of Touch
It’s difficult to understand how a product with such poor user experience was released in today’s streaming landscape. With global benchmarks like Netflix and Showmax readily available, this app feels outdated, clunky, and poorly thought through.
As a customer, it’s frustrating to see such a lack of innovation from a brand with market presence and resources. This isn’t just a technical issue, it reflects a deeper leadership and product vision problem. Competence?
A better alternative is overdue. And when it comes, the opportunity to replace this will be easy.

Worst navigation
I’ve been using the dstv stream app now for a few years. This last update ruined the navigation and trying to find sport programs. It’s impossible to find Tour de France or other sport programs. You have to use the search bar. So if you search for the incorrect word you won’t find it. Also, you can’t browse because they only show the shows that they want you to see, which may not be what you want to watch. Browsing has really gone down the drain. Also EPG I find on ch206 totally wrong. It’s different to what is showing. What’s interesting is that the EPG is correct on decoder but wrong on the streaming app. If it wasn’t for my wife, I would have dropped dstv years ago.

Terrible screeching sound when watching only certain channels
There is a terrible screeching sound when watching only certain channels such as Channel 342. This has been going on for weeks now.

App not working
I cannot log into my account for over a week. Keep getting error “something went wrong, please try again”. I have called the phoned the call center but no one can help me. I have several times, reset my password, reinstalled the app, cleared the cache, used a different internet connection and tried logging into three different devices. Still not working. Please assist asap, this is very frustrating. Going into second week with no access to dstv.

Incredibly frustrating
I constantly see “show information is currently not available” and so I have to guess what’s playing on each channel.
If I find something to watch live, whenever I rewind I can’t seem to return to the live situation. I’ve watched football games where I’m in the 65th minute; rewind a little to return to the 63rd minute and upon trying to return to the live game I get taken to the 50th minute. Surely I shouldn’t need to close the app everytime I want to return to the live game.
Really doesn’t encourage me to watch tv. Can’t believe I have to watch ads considering the amount I pay for the subscription compared to other much better platforms

System upgrade
IT needs to work on the up with some upgrades and all. The app is not up to standard. Showmax is much better than the Dstv streaming app. It’s so difficult to rewatch a episode that you finished watching. It kicks you out of that episode even if you try to rewind it so that you can start afresh. The fact that you also have you choose the next episode manually once the previous one finishes. It’s really frustrating to watch on this app.

Worst app with best potential
The app I most want to work and that works the worst! Terrible developers!!! Worst buffering algorithms. Live sport is the main reason ppl get this subscription and it is shockingly bad at doing that. It’s the most expensive streaming service available and they have the sport monopoly so they can charge it, but the product is awful!! Even worse on AppleTV. The latest updates have made it worse. Such a great feature to be able to rewind, pity there’s nothing to see, unless you like watching Minecraft sport! Pip would make this app insane, but please don’t add any more features until you get the steaming sorted. In fact please take some away if it helps.

Terrible app
This app gives me so many problems on my TV. My programmes are forever buffering or just won’t play. I delete and reinstall the app then it improves for a short while and then it starts its nonsense again. I don’t have this problem with any of the other streaming apps, just DSTV. Also why can I only watch a few programmes on demand, the vast majority of programmes I can only watch live. This is completely contrary to other streaming services which lets you watch any of their programmes at a time that suits you.

No subtitles, Tv quality poor
The streaming quality on the phone is good and I love most shows. The reason for the 3 stars is because most movies or shows don’t have the subtitle option also Tv quality is poor.

App not working
Online assistance takes very long time for instant chat. 20 Minutes to respond to a text. by that time I had left the page. Someone responded after that time and ended the chat within 1 minute. Dont expect much help on the chat option unless you are willing to sit and stare at your screen without leaving the page for the next 30 min to resolve your issue.

Not easy
Tough to search and find, on Apple TV very hard to direct, too many clicks and a lot of repeats that air.
Should be on pay as you go, select the 5 or 10 channels you want to watch and get billed for that.
Subsidising the rest of the country at the current amount is not the correct route, one can see it with your share price as well.
Everyone looks at a more cost effective option, if you want to be a premium brand, be unique!
Rethink, refresh, re-do!

Frustrating experience -
This app is an absolute nightmare. I don’t know how it made it past testing, because it barely functions. Streaming is constantly interrupted by buffering, and that’s if the app doesn’t crash first. Half the time it won’t even load, and when it finally does, the quality is awful—even with a strong Wi-Fi connection.
I’ve reported issues, reinstalled, restarted—nothing works. Support is non-existent, and it feels like the developers have just abandoned the whole thing. It’s infuriating to pay for a service that doesn’t deliver even the most basic functionality.
Honestly, there are way better options out there. This app has been a complete waste of time, energy, and money.

Disorganized Football Highlights
I can’t believe how terribly organized the football highlights are on the app. The hierarchy is completely out of whack. Your database needs to be organized and presented far better. Seems crazy to have to say this but it should be chronological and organized by matchday / week. I think you’ve tried to do this but it’s not going well for you 😂

Logging
It plays well for a few weeks then decides to log off when I I try to log in again it does not except my password, fine i change passwords login and it plays well for a few weeks then again log off and expects a password i enter my password it does not except it again and this goes on and on and on! It can’t be my phone i use an iPhone
