It’s genuinely crazy to think that SARS paid someone to build this app for, because it is as barebones as it gets, while at the same time being the least intuitive and most buggy experience you will have using an app. It should be developed from scratch and this version should be shelved to never see the light of day. A high school student could make a better app

The app is not user friendly
This app sends an OTP for every log in and the email delays, when you ask them to resend the OTP, it still takes quite some time. When you want to select the payment arrangement option,it gives an error message. You can’t pay using the app and the amount you owe shown in the app is different from what SARS has emailed. So frustrating

Convenient but frustrating
It’s great to be able to submit returns easily but it’s a one way channel , we cannot query anything, no support. Uploading docs is not easy I had to send an image because the pdf won’t work. SARS
Takes our money every month with no delays but payouts are a long 21 day process

Cannot make payment
I downloaded the app to pay personal income tax due on my tax return, after trying for days on the website.
It does not work. Payment fails. I try to speak to an assistant and it tells me the service was stopped in 2024. I am not holding on for a call centre all day. I try WhatsApp, it’s just a bot that knows nothing. App deleted.

OTP Not Working
When I try to login and enter my OTP, I consistently get errors saying the OTP could not be verified despite it being correct. How am I supposed to get my tax affairs in order when the app can’t authenticate against correct credentials?

2FA not working

I have used and monitored this app, for long enough. It does not crash like it used to, signing in has gotten slightly better. Nevertheless, I tend to question myself for having it.

On iPhone 11 with latest iOS and latest SARS eFiling: Unable to logon since the app will display an error message the credentials is not valid. The same credentials can logon via web browser. An app that cannot be used is a useless app.

Calls are always cut after one has waited forever for the query and finally when its your turn the call is dropped.

Wasted home screen space
I have been unable to log in to the app since 01 July 2024. Says it’s logging in and that’s as far as it goes.
Wouldn’t bother downloading the app that just takes up space on your Home Screen and hard drive space on your phone. A digital paper weight in essence.

Only giving it a 1 star rating because I didn’t have an option for 0. How can you release an untested app? It’s untested on the most basic and the first thing you do when you open the app, that is, signing on. It keeps sending me an OTP, when I punch in the OTP, the app says it’s incorrect and I can’t be signed on. I tried many times, I even deleted the app and redownloaded it but still can’t sign on. App won’t sign in
I have tried many times to sign in to the app, but it will never sign in. I thought the problem was unique to my phone, but when we tested it on my wife's phone, we found that she also had the same issue. We are unable to log in to the app. To check if our login credentials were the problem, we both successfully logged in to the website. This confirmed that the issue lies with the app. Why did you make changes to an app that was working fine? In previous years, we were able to log in without any problems. This latest update seems to be useless.

Login consistently causes it to crash
Got a new device and it doesn’t handle registering a new device gracefully. Had to use alternate OTP methods to login on a PC, disable app authorisation and re-register a new device. None of this was guided by them, had to just figure it out myself.

NO APP SUPPORT
The link to app support is a login page on the revenue service’s website. That does not constitute as ‘app support’ under Apple’s developer agreement.
I demand that this app be removed as it does not work on iPhone, and is riddled with bugs starting with the login page.
Read your own policy, then the reviews, and action a removal.

I don’t think the App is working. Today is the second day attempting it and is the 3rd download this far but still it gives me the same rejections to access my profile.
If only I could attach the screenshot I took. The rejection states the link was successful but I must log back again to the mobi app due to security reasons, over and over again it says. Which I’ve been attempting for 2 days already. Trying the same thing again & again. Clearly it isn’t me who is not inclined here. Something is wrong with this app. I also read other reviews. Very bad for such a huge institution with loads of funds at their disposal. 🤧🚮

Unable to verify my account because the email they sent me says that I need adobe reader to access the verification. So I download adobe and am still unable to verify.
Sat on hold on the phone for hours, nothing. Virtual support bot offers no help. Now I can’t even try to register a new account because my ID number is ‘currently in use’ thanks SARS, no tax returns for me I guess, thieves.

I don’t know how long I’ve been trying to contact sars… I can’t get usernames, the app cannot verify this and that, I have to phone here and there, I wait on the phone
for two hours on multiple occasions just for the lady to answer and just drop the call… At this point, I’ve tried my utmost. As a young person I’m done paying taxes 🤝

When I open correspondence, two older letters show, nothing recent, although an sms and email have been received stating that new correspondence has been issued.

Bugs not being sorted out.
Despite numerous attempts to inform SARS of bugs in the app, nothing is resolved: I still cannot view any correspondence except for the same letter repeated twice. No other correspondence is loaded?!?
Logging in is tedious with one having to open saved passwords, find and copy the SARS rifling one and then paste it in! It would be much easier to use if one could just apply one’s fingerprint or if the app did the work and auto filled...
I’m sure there are more bugs. These are what I’ve found thus far.
Come in SARS! I’m sure your coders are charging you (us taxpayers!) a fortune! Make them earn it!

Endless cycle of logging in...
The initial download and instructions were straightforward. When accessing the app again I was prompted to reset my password and unable to log in - instructed to use the website.
The website doesn’t allow you to view documents and letters and when trying to contact (as instructed) to submit more documents the contact page redirects you to log in.

Wow! How easy was that!
After the ease with which I filed my tax return on the mobi app, it seems as if the treacherous days of being stuck for hours in line are but a distant memory. Thank you SARS for making the process of filing my tax return seamless. I will definitely be recommending this to other people!

2019 version works perfectly. I could file in 20 mins for both myself and my wife. No need to visit SARS offices anymore. The app is everything, they just need to improve login screen as it somehow freezes momentarily after password is typed.
