Cheaper but unreliable

Two drivers just cancelled my trip after I stood outside in the dark in winter because "the trip is too far". I guess Bolt is not clear or not worth it for the drivers. Uber is more predictable it seems?

Avoid Bolt – Driver Stole My Phone & Got Protected

I booked a Bolt ride at Gandhi Square KFC. The driver took long to arrive. When we got out of the car, we accidentally left my phone inside. We tried stopping him but he drove off. We called security and tried calling the driver — he declined our calls.
Reported to Bolt support, but they did nothing except protect the driver. No help, no driver details. We checked his number on Truecaller — over 500 cases of stolen items reported.
Bolt only cares about money, not customer safety. Now they say open a police case. Who do I charge — the driver or Bolt?
Service is terrible and unsafe. Delete the app before it happens to you. Never using Bolt again.

Great app but the drivers are trying it, big time

So I’ve taken bolt on multiple occasions but as of late these bolt drivers are taking advantage of customers, the drivers will fully say they’ve arrived when they are 1-2min away & then the customer now has to fork out additional funds for the late fee when we are waiting for driver to arrive, I’ve had to dispute my charges on two separate occasions because of this, please bolt address that with your drivers cause it’s unfair on the customer to be taken advantage of like this.

Double charges

This is app is rubbish, drivers will cancel and you’ll get charged a trip fee. When I query it they will tell you the bank holds the money as pre-authorisation, but you’ll never get that money back.

Bolt drivers afraid of taxis

I have used this app three times. Each time i had to pay more money just to get to my destination (bolt drivers are apparently to afraid of driving in certain, normal safe neighborhoods because of the taxi drivers and will only take you if you offer more money). I got stuck for more than half an hour in one place because drivers weren’t accepting my request. So if you live in a town or city with taxis this is most certainly not the app for you!! Would not recommend or use again!

If it wasn’t that it was cheaper I’d hate this app more

I took a trip and they charged me, then refunded me randomly, then they started charging me again, but it wasn’t going though and it made me get bank fees, so now I’m complaining that I’m being charged for a mistake they made and now I’m also losing money from my bank, when I explained all this (with evidence) they told me it’s my banks fault and won’t give me a refund, I ended up paying them, but I lost more money. Bolt supports let me down

A few days ago, I left my pods in a Bolt vehicle and the driver didn't return them. I tried contacting the driver, but they didn't answer. I reached out to the support team, and they said they'd try to contact the driver. Hours later, they messaged me saying they couldn't reach the driver and advised me to report the incident to the police.
This experience has left me feeling disappointed and concerned about the safety and reliability of Bolt's service. It seems like there's a lack of communication between the drivers and the admin team, which is unacceptable. I'm extremely dissatisfied with how my situation was handled and would not recommend using Bolt until they improve their customer support and driver accountability.

At first the price was 580 Ksh and I was okay since I have a bike I’ll pay 800 or even 900 then before I even sent him a picture of the bike telling him I have a bike and he said okay then when we got in the car the bike and everything he asked who’s paying I’m a student and I said me and then he said okay so it’s 1500 Ksh so I call my dad tell him and he asked this as we are going right never told me about anything if he can charge his own price whenever he said nothing so I ask him as we’re arriving about the price because I’m still shocked he he just firmly said 1500 he then proceeds to say the government to fine him and keep in mind he said this after so I had to pay all my savings I’m broke now my dad was very mad I am every mad and he seems to be very happy about it I’m very upset will never be using bolt again rather use uber and it’s expensive prices because of home I’m telling my family friends to not use bolt also to not ever use bolt thank you I want my refund or 500 since 1000 is the best I’ll be taking this to social media and never again am I using bolt

The ride did not show up and decided to cancel

The Ride did not show up on my pick up point, infact the stupid driver cancelled the ride deliberately, and that cost me R20 cancellation fee. I do not recommend anyone to pay using any electronic method. These stupid people does not show up if you already paid using apple pay or any other electronic payment. I thought I can rely on the ride, but they took away all the trust I had on bolt. That happened multiple times. That guy is Diogene driving a White Toyota Rumion plate number is LF 69 GG GP. I pray that the car can no longer operate or have problems, or who ever hired him must chase him. He did that deliberately because it was Friday and I think he had plans to spend our money that he never worked for. I am slowly losing interest on requesting. I think most of bolt drivers are fine though in this app they are few scammers whom if u left things in the bolt taxi they don’t hold a call wen u call back
I once reported one guy who left with my Wollis grocery and they Bolt since they said they ‘ll call him they never get hold of him and they ended up saying I must go open a case of Food & send them case number , just imagine to report Grocery and have case number for grocery that I left in bolt taxi tjoo I was disappointed xem as I reported to them within 24 hours on app call rings but didn’t hold the phone and on true caller many peoples wrote bad about that driver but Bolt still have that person as the driver people wen left things by mistake he took it for himself , & we reported to them but couldn’t find their own driver that’s not a good things xem that time I was disappointed

But there is this guy who took more money from my Daughter he told her the price that’s difference from the one in her app wen she said why u telling me different price He said he doesn’t have change and decided he must be the one taking extra cash that was not fair for a child who still have to request coming back home
But above all BOLt is reasonable and we do comes across Angel’s in Bolt that are friendly and knows customers service and I do rate them accordingly
I think in conclusion Bolt but make sure the Bolt drivers have right cellphones numbers wen we report those who are not good they must find the bad person and discipline them

Incompetent drivers

this app is not as reliable as it claims to be, these drivers decline requests because of the promos. this driver told me to get off the car because i had a 50% promo and he wasn’t aware and that he would give me a ride if i don’t pay the full price, mind you i am a women and with the amount of violence that some of these drivers have is very alarming and so i got off. today the driver failed to follow the note i had given him to take the second right once he’s entered at the gate since i live in a complex. and he left . before he even arrived the waiting time count down had already started counting because i had a promo and he wanted to increase the money. this app is very frustrating and unreliable i wish i could give it zero stars

I really don’t understand how heavy traffic or the driver driving slowly and arriving at my location a few minutes late than the ETA is my fault??why am I getting charged extra for that ? How is that fair in anyway? I select a ride because I see I can afford it so now me being charged extra than the initial price I selected is affecting my budget!!!set a price and stick to it!! Dangerous. Fraudulent. Terrifying

My 1st bug bear with Bolt is that it is impossible to actually get a ride. My rides are usually around ZAR 100 to ZAR 200.
I ALWAYS get prompted that I “might” stand a better chance of getting a ride if Bolt can increase my fair by roughly 20% WTAF!
Then a car will pull up and say it has arrived, even though it’s not even visibly close to me on the app or with my own eyes and I have 3 minutes to get to the car before I am charged an additional surplus fee
Again WTAF! So I have seconds to run around traffic frantically looking for my ride - because the app automatically says “your driver has arrived” when they’re approximately 1km away, not factoring in CTN Atlantic Seaboard traffic
My driver has NEVER been the same person as the app
I am terrified for my life whenever I had previously used Bolt - I no longer use them because they don’t seem to actually have any drivers available for anything under a ZAR 500 booking, a ZAR 50 CASH tip and a McDonald’s or KFC meal
The drivers are physically threatening, verbally abusive (I once asked a driver if they would please mind turning their volume down as I needed to take an important health/doctor call) unprofessional, stink to high heaven, dirty, slobby, shabby, rude, foul mouthed, loud and extremely aggressive
You put your and your loved one’s lives in mortal danger using Bolt.

IMPROVE YOUR SECURITY!!

I have never had problems with the App until today!
I request for my siblings and I later get a call from them saying I put the wrong address but I Tripoli checked and it was the right address…on the drivers side, the app was reporting that they have arrived at the right address whereas on my side the app was reporting that they were still driving to destination.

MY PARCEL WAS STOLEN!

I want to speak to someone who is useful in this company other then the contact support because they did absolutely nothing to help. Most useless support I have ever endured. I had a parcel picked up to go to a second destination and the person who ordered the bolt did not pay, however then the driver went to saying that I have to pay the amount to get him to drive back to my house and drop it off. I contacted support and they were not helpful at all. I sent screenshots of the issue and told them what happened, all they could say is “we don’t do third party support unless the driver can report it.” I then ask the driver to report it nicely, and then he tells me to send him money and insulting me. This company is not who you want to get into a car with.

Be careful during month end ! Bolt double charges you for trips during month end.

Bolt is a scam! They will charge you a different price than the one you requested with once the trip has been ended if it is the end of the month. I experienced this and a couple of people I know have also experienced this during month end!
And to make it worse if the trip is cash the driver expects the doubled amount because that’s what the app says, in this instance I didn’t have double the amount of cash cause I was well prepared for the price that was initially shown .. I experienced this and I complained about it they offered me my money in the form of a discount not actual cash , when I used my money owed to me via a discount I request a trip that was way less then the discount . They took the whole big amount of the discount for a R28 trip meaning all my money back is lost to a R28 trip . They are claiming it’s a discount yet it was my money that they owed me for double charging me during month end !

No Discipline or regulation of drivers

I’m not one who likes to leave negative reviews but I feel I can’t help it especially when I see how positive there reviews are. I think Bolts only advantage is being cheap. I’ve now been mugged, overcharged and a plethora of other scams and crimes that have happened or been attempted by Bolt Drivers. In all these instances Bolt is one of the biggest obstacles to getting resolutions, the info on the app seems remarkable easy to manipulate from a drivers perspective and when you do report an incident Bolt will completely ignore the drivers actions.
Never use after a drunk night out, you may be robbed, never use to go to work they might change the location spontaneously to overcharge you and then hold your money for 14 days no matter how bad you might’ve needed it and last but not least never use Bolt.

Extremely disgusted with their services

I wish it was possible to give a rate of ZERO !! I had 2 cases with Bolt. First time the driver stole from me, I was in a completely different province and I requested bolt, I tried to retrieve my item that was stolen from me via their “support” and I was told that they couldn’t get ahold of the driver that they should have on their system. They couldn’t get ahold of the person???? I was told to go report the incident at the police station, they couldn’t even give me the number for this driver that stole from me a very valuable item.
I deleted the app completely after that incident, I was desperate again a few days go I downloaded the app and the driver I got. CHARGED me 3times the amount I was supposed to pay on my credit card. He dropped me off at my place but did not end the trip and I was charged for that, literally 3 times the amount I was supposed to pay had he ended the trip when he was supposed to and I contacted the support and again they were of no help.
This is why drivers commit so many crime under “BOLT” bolt truly doesn’t care about who they accept as their drivers and no matter what the so called driver does they will still keep him as a driver so they continue doing rubbish !
If you are in South Africa and you care about your life and your money ? Stay away from this app !

My cooler box got stolen by a bolt driver

My cooler box was stolen this Saturday by a bolt driver. I put my cooler box in the boot and as soon we got out of the car we noticed we didn’t have our cooler box we called the driver. We eventually got ahold of him no later than 10 minutes after the ride ended and he said he will check. There was nothing to check it was in the boot. There were 3 of us in the car taking the ride how do we all know we put it in the car and 5-10 minutes after getting out the car it has disappeared. I went on support chat on the app to complain the first agent asked to get consent to give the driver my details for him to drop it off then proceeded to tell me that I should compensate the driver. After I said he doesn’t deserve compensation then today they proceed to say the driver says it wasn’t there. Terrible service. If there drivers are not stabbing women they are stealing from us.

Risk to Life

I recently had an accident while using the app, driver seemed to have been intoxicated. Reported the matter to bolt and got a generic template response. Furthermore, I recently reported that the driver, in one of recent trips, did not match the driver on the app. We nearly collided with 3 other vehicles! I got a generic response that their investigations reveal that the driver in the car matches the driver in the app. Serious😳? What investigations? Did you email the driver and ask them and they politely confirmed it was them? There is no way to do any investigations because unlike Uber, Bolt doesn’t require drivers to sign in and continue taking facial recognition pictures. Let’s admit it, Bolt is unsafe and a risk to life of passengers. Look out for another generic template response to this review😂🤦🏽

Bolt doesn’t verify their drivers and protects their fake profiles

I had an incident where I requested a ride and a different guy showed up. He didn’t look like the guy on the profile picture. I cancelled my ride and reported the incident. Bolt hasn’t refunded me my money and it’s been more than 2 weeks. A week later I decide to give the “women only” ride a chance. The lady showed up with a different car. I didn’t feel safe getting in the car. But before I could cancel the ride, she claimed that the ride took place. I reported this several times and Bolt refuses to give me my money back. The only time they want to give my matter attention is when I tag them on social media yet they still give me the runaround when I request my money back.

Price increase

I have being struggling with card payments lately . I would request a ride and have the money deducted from my account, driver arrives we drive to the destination after the trip has ended i get a notification that my payment didn’t ho through due to insufficient funds. I had only thought that it only happens on card payments and tried with Apple pay itself still the same issue. My money will be deducted and reserved then get charged for declined transaction. Just tonight i requested a ride for R38 when the driver i got in the car only to be told that my trip has been cancelled due to a declined payment . I requested again luckily he got the ride and accepted but it had gone down to R35 i used Apple pay again the transaction went through, we drove to my destination only just after the ride was completed i get a notification that my payment declined and ofcourse it’s “insufficient funds “ again but surprisingly now when i get my invoice the total for the trip is R50 i don’t know how tf did we even get there . The R35 was reversed into my account but i’m on -R50 on the bolt app . Honestly speaking ever since i started using bolt in 2019 this is my first time experiencing this b*s . And this is most definitely my last time using bolt . I’m enough 🥱

Horrible Drivers, don’t download!

Your drivers are horrible people. I requested a ride for my wife and the driver agreed on condition that we increase the price, to which I agreed. He informed me that he will arrive in a different car than to the one appearing as his official car. I updated my wife with the same. Half way on the way to pick up my wife, the driver cancelled the trip without explanation and disappeared off our screens. That was the end of that. (So much for “Low Prices - Faster Arrival Times”) This wasn’t the first time this happened either. Bolt drivers usually just cancel whenever they want. I suspect they cancel short trips when they see other bigger cash offers. Bolt app needs to look into these weaknesses and gaps in their system. We tried Uber but they were too busy so we couldn’t keep a woman in distress waiting then we ended up going for the local taxi with all its inconveniences, at least the local taxi guys are hungry for business. Bolt is unreliable and I am deleting it today, right after posting this review. Thanks for nothing Bolt!

Extremely Displeased with Bolt's Service

I am utterly disappointed with the terrible service I received from Bolt. I attempted to cancel a ride when the driver had been stationary for over 30 minutes, yet the app falsely claimed he was just 1 minute away. During this agonizing wait, I couldn't communicate with the driver; my text messages had only one tick, and my call attempts went unanswered.
This experience was not only inconvenient but also unacceptable. Despite reaching out to Bolt for assistance, they failed to respond in a timely manner. To add insult to injury, they charged me for the cancellation, which was entirely due to the driver's inaction.
Bolt, you need to step up your game and provide better customer service. Customers should not have to endure such terrible experiences. I demand a cancellation from the driver's side or a refund for the ordeal I had to endure. I strongly advise potential customers to think twice before using Bolt, as their service is far from reliable.

Stolen Items

Bolt does not care about their customers and choose to hire dishonest people.
My partner requested a bolt to pick up work items and drop them off at our place. The driver claimed that he waited at the drop-off location and my partner didn’t show up so he left with the items. He then had the nerve to say that he hadn’t been
Firstly, he had been waiting outside for the driver (you can obviously track and see how far the driver is) and no one showed up.
Secondly, when my partner called the driver, then driver made his claim about having arrived and left. The driver then said he would return with the items later in the day when he was in the area again.
After that, the driver was no longer reachable.
We reported the matter on the app on the 4th of October (the day of the incident) and the “support” has been ATROCIOUS. They take hours to respond and don’t respond with any useful information. All they say is that they have contacted the driver and the driver will get back to us. They then had the nerve to state that the hadn’t been paid for the trip - HOW IS HE SUPPOSED TO GET HIS MONEY WHEN THE CHOSEN PAYMENT METHOD WAS COD??
We then reached out to their “support” team via email and experienced same nonsense.
Two days later, we still haven’t been contacted by the driver and their “support” team have been useless in resolving the matter.
Essentially, this is now a case of theft.
Our items have now been stolen and for what reason? We don’t know. This will sadly result in a case being opened as Bolt clearly don’t care about what has happened, refuse to take responsibility, refuse to put us in contact with the driver so we can retrieve our items and expect us to fold our arms and hope for the best.
This is unacceptable and will definitely not end here.

Awful Service for the entire month! Okay

What an awful service, all Bolt drivers are unbelievably rude, they all lack respect and customer service skills😡 I have had this app for a very long time and I’ve always relied on Bolt for all my trips to work. I regret relying on Bolt , I will never advise anyone to download the app or rely on the services, drivers clearly don’t care about rendering services, they don’t care about their job. I’ve had drivers asking me to cancel trips so that they can pocket the money to themselves, drivers telling me how they are not running late, if I’m running late then I should request another driver, even worse this morning a driver kicked me out of the car because I asked him why he was driving at a very low speed as I’m running late for work, he told me to get out of his car, reported this issue, guess nothing was done about this.
Bolt, you should teach your drivers humanity and some service skills. But otherwise, my experience with you is extremely disappointing!!! 🚮 never again!

Unsafe

I personally don’t recommend anyone to use Bolt, especially now, the drivers have become more dodgy than ever before. I recently had a driver cancel the trip after I had gotten inside the car, and he still drove me to my destination and said it was a mistake (I guess he knew where I was going and wanted to take the cash for himself) I really felt unsafe the entire time.
And on another occasion, a driver dropped me off at my house and never ended the trip, I also didn’t notice until I got a notification an hour 30 minutes later to rate my trip, the idiot dropped me off and continued driving from my home to Johannesburg( which is about an hour away) and I was billed on my card for a trip I didn’t even take, and Bolt support being their usual useless selves haven’t refunded me or try to make contact after I’ve lodged a complaint.

Ride did not happen

Not a bad app at all but a problem had occurred when i accidentally typed the wrong pickup point. i don’t know why but the rider decided to proceed and go to the destination that i had inserted , yet i wasnt even in the car. He insisted that i should cancel the ride while he was driving to the destination but my app didnt give the option to cancel the ride because it says that im already in the car going to my destination , yet i wasnt. Bolt could be better

Ive been using bolt as work transport to and from for the past 3 months , firstly the prices are very inconsistent, one day you can pay X amount and the next you only have options 10-15 rand more than the previous day .
Secondly , the driver are EXTREMELY SELECTIVE, if you choose the bolt Go option you rarely ever get a driver because of the “low” price , and as for the days when bolt has normal prices which are generally cheaper, drivers refuse to accept or rather accept , make u wait , drive and then take a detour without canceling the ride, this becomes a problem because now u cannot cancel the ride because they say they’ve arrive when they have not
Another thing i had a problem with is drivers apparently having a different amount shown on their app which im not sure is a scam from them that they try to do to get more money from Cash clients , and a few times i was forced to pay that extra amount without them explaining why it is different
Id say this service is a 50/50 , half the time you get decent drivers, no complaints and quick acceptance on the ride
And other days its complete havoc from start to finish which is extremely unsettling.
Drivers should be more professional and cater to clients and not be selective
As well as deliver the service as it is their job and not as if they’re doing the clients a favor.

Very unsafe

My route was very simple, from Rosebank mall to Wits university. There’s only two turns. My driver kept on insisting that the turns he was making were to avoid traffic, I kept on telling him to stick to the original route and he did not listen. We ended up in the middle of Hillbrow and that was when my panic levels reached their height. Usually drivers take longer routes to scam you by getting a higher rate but this was different and felt very scary. It was only when I called my father and flat out accused the driver of malicious intent loudly on the phone that he started to follow the right route. He tried to justify his route by saying he thought the destination was in Hillbrow even though it clearly shows on the bolt app that it’s in Braamfontein. If you are a women please do not use Bolt it’s not safe.

Just No

I use apple pay as payment method. First off, some of the drivers don’t match the registration or sometimes even the car. So when I ask why before I get in the car, it’s just a safety precaution, I don’t need a driver telling me no it’s him and being rude about it.
Secondly, I have had bolt amounts go off on my account on days where I haven’t even used bolt. Which I will be flagging at the bank.
Thirdly, I see that the price for my trip was sooo much more than what I was quoted on the app. I went to look at the invoice and they charged me for time. How can you charge someone for just getting in a car? After your drivers registration and car didn’t match? Now I’m being charged for something bolt should have been on top of. This js totally unacceptable and I will be taking my business elsewhere.

It is so bad I would give it a zero but I can’t so I give it a one

Full honestly every time I order a ride with this company the location never is accurate and I end up walking in circles for 10 min before I can find my lift
So far Ive had the worst lift experience with this company one of my drivers confessed and said she was high at the point and I felt a little uneasy with her driving the car, but honestly she had been my best driver so far and she was capable of driving and took me to my destination safely
My other driving experience were uncomfortable and made me feel unsafe
Not saying everyone’s car should be kept in mint condition but jeez at least put a air freshener in there or open a window

Terrible Drivers

I downloaded the App for my mom and decided to ride along with her for the first experience of taking a cab. The driver that accepted the trip, picked us up and asked where we were going; I told him to the address indicated on the request, and told us it’s too far but he will do it anyway. The driver continued the conversation to ask how much the trip was and whether it’s cash or card coz on his end it’s reflecting the exact price as cash payment. We told him we have a discount applied but he suddenly became very furious out of the blue. My mom went into pure panic by the way he took off and drove us to our destination. I remained calm and spoke my mom out of her anxiety. As elderly my mom is, the driver took no consideration of her presence, the road and our safety. Long story short, we arrived to our destination and he’d forced us to pay extra; I refused to do this but my mom insisted, out of panic, to give him the full amount for the sake of peace and jump off quickly. I’m utterly gutted and frustrated by this and cannot help but hate everything about this app even more. I’ve had my own personal fair share of issues with drivers that utilise this app where I’ve reported incidents but never a response from this “Bolt Team” app until this very day. I highly wouldn’t recommend this app to anyone and I often try not to coz I’d hate for another person to experience this, seemingly, tolerated behaviour by Bolt. I’ve never had issues with other similar competing apps and I still hate myself for even allowing my mom to go through that trauma for the sake of a “Discounted Ride”. Absolutely terrible - 1 star rating was a little too generous for me. TERRIBLE!

Double Charging On Rides

Bolt is not the worst app , my only problem is when you are inactive or your card is they charge a holding fee … which isn’t really the major train smash here. The problem is additional to the holding fee they have charged you they will still deduct the same amount from your account, ultimately leaving you having paid double for the trip and then when you query you are told you will be refunded in 10 business days. This is ridiculous as they did this to me for at least 4 rides and I have lost well over R200 because of what they do and it’s been 7 days still the money is not refunded to my account. I don’t feel it’s fair at least the money should be refunded in less than one day like other driving apps but definitely not 10 days is absurd and there is no ways of me getting this resolved any quicker. I’m a young lady who uses the bolt app regularly and I must say I had many awkward interactions with the drivers who tried to find out personal information about me during the ride which made me very uncomfortable because this is supposed to be a form of transportation not a dating app I feel the drivers selected to work are random and not much effort is put into actually “screening” who exactly they are hiring to deal with people. Many occasions I thought maybe he was just making conversation and I’m overreacting until I started feeling overwhelmed by a few of the male drivers and even had to make fake calls so they would stop the unnecessary interaction, but now as I heard the story of the young lady who was raped by the Uber driver I must say I really am afraid of using this app again.

ANGRY CUSTOMER!!

I am very displeased by the lack of service from bolt!! . To make matters worse , there’s no option to send in complains on the app!!. I was late this morning and the only available rides were about “6-8” ministers away , I had no problem with waiting however the driver had sent a “hey” message which I saw a few minutes later because I was wondering why the pickup time has been stuck on 8 minutes , I reply the driver and he has the audacity to ask HOW MUCH IS MY TRIP???. Great but needs time

I’m really impressed with my Bolt Food experience. After reading a few negative reviews I was a bit skeptical of ordering off of Bolt but I gave it a shot. A few orders later I’m pleasantly surprised - You can tell time has been taken to make the app as simple to use as possible, the delivery prices are great and the waiting times are impressively low. The only thing that kills the experience is the lack of restaurants available on Bolt Food compared to other food delivery apps - I’m sure that will change with time and I hope more restaurants are added soon :)

I always use bolt but I don’t like what happened to me on Thursday and I have sent 3 messages to bolt but they have responded since Thursday… my driver told me to cancel my ride when he got where i was waiting for him because he wanted cash and when i had requested I was using card payment.. I asked him if I was not going to be charged and he said no they won’t charge you if for the reason for cancelling you choose the driver told me to cancel, So I did cancel and I paid him in cash and I even gave him double the amount I was supposed to give me… later that day that’s when I noticed a payment message from my bank for bolt so it means I was charged twice I need my money transferred back into my account please thank you.

Multiple charges

I requested for a ride, was allocated a driver and told he was 4 min away. Then he was 1min away. 17 min later he had still not arrived. I called him using the app and he did not respond, I called him again using my phone, he did not respond. I was charged as soon as a driver was allocated to me, before he arrived. I cancelled the ride and made another request. Immediately I was charged, it was the same driver who was 1 min away but never arrived. So, I was charged twice for a driver who did not pitch, nor bother to respond to any communication. Eventually another driver was allocated to me who pitched and once again I was charged before he even arrived. Luckily for me, he pitched. So, I was charged 3 times for the one trip and it was my second ride on bolt. Not a good impression at all!! I hope they reverse the money and sort out their driver issues. I stopped using bolt when I discovered that many girls get assaulted on their rides and bolt does nothing but cover it up , they delete ride histories and offer you a discount as if that is going to make up for you being assaulted (and that’s just me using a nicer word).Instead or helping they cover things up ,how can a driver not be registered on their app ,when he uses it ?And when it’s time to look for the person they don’t have them in the system how is that even possible ?

Major Issue with App

I have picked up a problem after constantly having to wait forever or just have trips cancelled. My current driver accepted the trip and was 5mins away, but kept driving away (as usually happens). I called him and (as usual) he was still on another trip. 30 minutes later he arrived.
Apparently the app just accepts the closest driver regardless of them accepting or being on another trip. The driver has no say, resulting in ridiculous wait times. Sometimes a ride will just disappear even according to the driver.
Bolt also does nothing about these complaints and quite honestly this rating seems fraudulent. In a world where 5 star reviews are marketing tools, they are very easily purchased in bulk. Just a bad, bad company.

Debit orders that go off before ride arrives!

I’m sick and tired of Bolt and the drivers honestly, from the rude drivers not picking up calls or not having the correct phone numbers connected to their driver apps. I fail to understand why a debit order goes off even before the driver arrives. Long story short, I requested, got debited, waiting up to 20min for the driver called and he never picked up, I had to be at the airport. He didn’t bother cancelling. And for Bolt to to refund it takes bloody 10 working days which has now turned out to 15 working days. Quick to debit and slow to refund.
Better pay cash rather than card, drivers take advantage and start trip before you even get into the car or even end the trip the moment you exit the car. I HIGHLY DON’T RECOMMEND IT.

i will never use bolt again. myself, my sister and her son requested a bolt. when he arrived, i got first into the car. i was settling in and i just saw how he speeded off with me without my sister and her son. i was in a state and i heard my sister screaming for me to jump out of the car, thats when i was hit with adrenaline and i jumped out of a car that was speeding in a main road. i was not worried about cars that could possibly be driving behind us, my only concern was to get out, which i managed to do. i have a few scratches and even left a shopping bag in the car, but those things are the least of my concerns. i’m just thankful to God for helping me manage to get out, just thinking what would’ve happened to me, terrifies me. i have absolutely no info of the guy, like he’s registration number & i tried to contact bolt but i’m struggling. i usually screenshot the details but everything happened so fast and right after that happened, drive declined, so i have no name, absolutely nothing.

I had plans to deploy a fleet of drivers and vehicles on this platform since it is the fastest to register on and offers competitively priced rides compared to the competition, but I am beginning to see this platform in a rather different light.
Now that I have read these reviews and there seems to be no response, either from the developers, regarding issues like how to remove old bank cards and so on and so forth and stuff like that... It is saddening to see such potential go to waste. The lack of effort on their part (Taxify/Bolt) to fix all these issues, makes them worthy of a single star. That star is only because it cannot be made into a half, otherwise it may very well have been just half a star.

Terrible service

Drivers who are are supposedly 2mins away take forever to show, drivers act as if they are doing you a favour by taking you places and i even hd a driver sigh and tell me he is in a rush when i told him i am going to change the destination. Al though i do not want to generalize all drivers because i have had good experiences with the app, i have to say that a large number of them are not trained with proper customer etiquette and that leaves me to conclude that the only place this company beats Uber in is price-wise. My trips always get cancelled

I had the worst experience with Bolt, on the last month of me using it. I had drivers cancel rides on me right when I was about to get in the car with no explanation whatsoever, sometimes I’d be standing in the rain. This all happened in the same week. The drivers are not trained to value customers. I’ve once had to wait almost 20 minutes for a driver who was 2 minutes away from where I was standing (in the rain, on my way to work), the driver was in 1 spot, not even moving, no communication from him, I then cancelled and was allocated the same driver. The people don’t even take accountability for their actions. Bolt is supposed to be convenient, fast, time saving and stress less, the only thing I can say it has lived up to being is affordable, that’s it! I’d rather take a taxi or walk to certain distances than use my money on this service ever again!!

Harassing Drivers and No promos

Personally i love Bolt it is my go to app. I use it on a daily basis. These are a few of my issues I experience. There has been many instances whereby the drivers get a hold of your number and they start getting personal. I get text messages, WhatsApp messages and calls. I am a girl and find that very unsafe. I would like for there to be an alternative method of communication. Secondly i have recently discovered that one may only receive promotions if you use the card payment method. I for one am a loyal client to bolt, as i mentioned above i use it every day and i still do not receive any promotions. I recommend taxify but i would just like those few changes to take place if possible.

Has my brother been kidnapped or are your drivers just thieves???

This driver was meant to drop my brother at church. They left at 08h42 and he only ended the trip at 09h04... it only takes a max of 12 minutes to get the church from my house. I suspect that he did not end the trip after dropping my brother off because the the estimated cost was R45-54 but the final price ended up being R74??? How is that possible because even during peak times, the highest amount for this distance is R60, even when there is traffic. I would like to get an explanation please. The driver was very unfriendly, so that doesn’t put me at ease either.
There is no option for disputes or complaints on the app. How can this problem get solved because this driver (Nkosinathi, driving a gold VW Polo Sedan, number plate beginning with FR33) has clearly stolen money by not ending the trip after drop off. Furthermore, I have proof that his end location is not what I had originally put into the app.
If I could give a negative score, I would.

Unprofessional drivers / non- user friendly app

Driver cancelled my trip (and now the app says I didn’t pitch up!!!) because I was taking a card trip. Though I can sympathise with the driver, it is not my fault that there is a time lag between receiving their monies due for card trips. I had to cancel (via the driver) my trip and out of fear of experiencing the same I used UBER. I was not able to find a way to message Taxify as all there support buttons just takes me to the FAQ paged (either I am just missing something or the app meeds to change). I don’t want to complain about any of my other trips but this seems the only way that I would be able to complain about my trip.
This is not the first time either. Something similar happened last week to a friend of mine in the same area.
Also why can’t drivers see before hand if its a cash or card trip that way they don’t have to accept card trips if they don’t want to.

Poor service

I have hade so many people complaining about Taxify’ I thought they’re good’ until yesterday’ I requested Taxify @ my house to spur’ then the guy come ‘while i was inside the car guy was playing his music I couldn’t pick up my call’ inside the car I had to wait to get off the car so that I can pick up my calls’ second I requested another one when I was done what I was doing ‘ guess what happen I hat to wait for more than 10 minutes ‘course I was rushing ‘the driver moved to a Wrong direction’ I hade to wait for more than 30 minutes for him of getting lost ‘what is the use of using gps? You pay your money to what to wait or to ‘do wht you ask for’ so I had request another one ‘ until they decided to block me’ so while they blocking me I had to go another companies’😡

No Title

Okay first of all ,your drivers can be bloody rude 🤦🏽‍♀️when they pick you up they don’t like to use the navigation,you have to direct them instead which is totally absurd . Some of these drivers are high or even worse drunk when they pick you up . They lack respect ,they never have change .
Yesterday I had a guy that wouldn’t give me change because he says he ran out and I must not complain because I’m not the only customer he had that day ,lack of customer care🤷🏽‍♀️
Whenever I complain Taxify never follows up ,they just send you an email that they’re looking into it and it never happens.
As for using your cards with this app please don’t ,my brother had to cancel his card altogether because they were taking money for rides he wasn’t even taking ,all their promos apply to those that use their cards ,it’s a scam ,don’t use your cards !!

Constantly receiving bad service

The drivers I’ve been getting have no sort of customer sympathy, today I requested a ride from home to my place I had a lot of bags to carry, the driver did not help me with my bags instead he opened the boot for me to put my luggage in and I had trouble closing the boot instead of him coming out to close it he tells me to push harder. He had poor customer service I was not ask which radio station I prefer like drivers from Uber’s ask, I was not asked about my day and I was not asked about the temperature of the car if it’s okay or not. When I arrive to my destination the driver is now on the phone with his friend I had to ask him to open the boot for me and he didn’t help me with my luggage I had to take them out myself from the car and carry them while he chatted away with his friend.. honestly I’ve had enough and I’m moving to another company which will value me as a customer and provide proper service.

Unusual activity on card

I recently recommended someone to use taxify, they get a R150 discount voucher and I get a R250 discount voucher. When I requested a ride using the credit card option, the driver arrived and when I was inside the vehicle he asked how I will be paying. When I told him I will be using the cr card he said I must get off as he only accepts cash. I then reported the driver for misconduct on the app for misconduct and was told the matter will be investigated and disciplinary action will be taken against the driver. First of all how can the driver claim to know what method of payment I had chosen before he got to me? Did I mention that he cancelled trip claiming I “did not show”? Since lodging a complaint against the driver I’m not able to use the app with my credit card as it says “unusual activity” when I inquired, I was informed to take a picture if my government issued ID with a selfie (one image) and my matter will be investigated. When I asked if that’s even legal, I haven’t gotten a response 15 hours later! Personally I think this is a way of taxify trying not to go out their vouchers, if that’s the case then taxify is running a scam and should be reported to all relevant authorities! Very disappointing

Pretty Good Start

Looks like a pretty good start. I would like to see family sharing added to the app. So when one of my kids hails a ride, I get a notification & can track them through the app.
I had 2 of my kids install the app. Since there is no family sharing facility, I added my credit card info to their apps. Each of them get a voucher for their first ride. When they do use it the first time, I receive a voucher for an additional ride. However, in using this feature, they blocked my account due to "unusual activity" on my card. They have not been able to advise what this "unusual activity" is. They now want a copy of my ID & credit card. I refused to provide it. No other ride sharing company has requested this before. They can easily verify whether my card is stolen or not. Looks like they are trying to worm out of the free rides. The competition is beating them without even trying. When you raise a query, they are very slow to respond.
So customer service needs some work.
Maps don't seem to be very accurate.

App good but Driver embarrassing to the Brand.

This is not a review on the app but rather the Stuppid Driver
Driver arrived at pickup location just prior to the scheduled pickup 10h00.
The Taxify driver was parked infront of the entrance to the property when I arrived at the property to see the client off and also to visit my sister.
I was in a white B180 Mercedes and I greet the driver who acknowledges me and confirms that he was is picking somebody.
He moved his Vehicle and I drove into the driveway.
At about the same time my sisters daughter also arrives home (VW) and follows me into the property. The Taxify client in the meantime walks up to the gate with his bag ready to leave for the airport only to see the Taxify driver slowly driving away.
We call the Driver, but the driver refuses to pickup/answer.
While I understand the risks that Uber/Taxify drivers face, this driver is really an embarrassment to the brand.
We were left with no option but for me to take The Taxify visitor to the airport and then to return to my sister.
Please can you advise on refund and also can you get an explanation from the driver for his actions and particularly why he did not answer calls
